It is a privilege for me to once again serve
as your President and I look forward to working with our Board of
Directors in meeting the needs and goals of all ISCA members.
As we all know, the construction industry has
its ups and downs and our sector is no different. Over the past
number of years we have had times of fast growth and occasionally we
were forced to deal with slower growth. This is the natural way that
our business fluctuates. However, even during hard times ISCA
contractors thrive. Why? Maybe it is because we have a great
relationship with our two unions, The International Union of
Painters and Allied Trades and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters
and Joiners, and the General Contractors and the Builders that we
perform the work for. We all realize that our market is very fragile
and it must be treated with respect and we must work very diligently
to keep it that way.
Our association offers free of charge Health and Safety
Training, Computer Estimating, Foreman Upgrade Training Programs and
a WSIB Safety Group. All of these programs are helping our
contractors to run their businesses more competitively and
effectively, which means more profitably. Profit is not a dirty
word. We work hard and are deserving of a fair return on our
